Overview

Ms. Corwin Aguilar practices in the areas of medical malpractice, ophthalmic malpractice, long term care facility negligence and general personal injury litigation. She concentrates on representing hospitals in the medical malpractice area, long term care facilities in nursing home negligence cases and eye care professionals in the ophthalmic malpractice area. Ms. Corwin Aguilar has developed trial experience with over a dozen civil and criminal trials over the past 13 years. In addition to her current concentrations, she has represented property owners in commercial litigation, contract disputes and real property cases. She has three reported cases in New Mexico and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ms. Corwin Aguilar is a shareholder with Montgomery & Andrews, P.A. She is admitted to practice in New Mexico, United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.


Education


Ms. Corwin Aguilar graduated from Grinnell College in 1985 with a B.A. in Biology. She graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley in 1995. During law school, Ms. Corwin Aguilar was an Associate Editor for the Ecology Law Quarterly and received the Jurisprudence Award for Legal Issues in Biomedical Ethics. She began her legal career with Montgomery & Andrews, P.A. in 1995.

Corwin Aguilar also received a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree in 1989 from UC Berkeley School of Optometry. She is a licensed optometrist in New Mexico and California (inactive). She has developed advanced and continuously updated knowledge of ocular and systemic disease, medical procedures and pharmaceutical agents. Prior to beginning law school in 1992, Corwin Aguilar provided complete vision care as a self-employed doctor of optometry in New Mexico and California. She has maintained an active license in optometry and continues to practice on a limited basis.
